Customized programs for institutional needs
Walk-through security metal detectors with multiple selectable program settings can be customized for use in airports, mass transit, loss prevention, schools, and more - an important feature for institutional purchasers. The Garrett PD6500i walk-through detector, for example, offers 21 standard programs and is an Approved Product for Homeland Security under the SAFETY Act. It offers dual detection - like two detectors in one - via transmitters and receivers in each side panel. It’s the only U.S. and European airport-approved security detector that can simultaneously pinpoint multiple targets on the left, right, or center of the body, including vertical location.
Permanent or portable?
Walk-through detectors are commonly known within the industry as door frame metal detectors. Though most are permanently installed, they’re also relatively easy to setup and take down. All Garrett walk-through metal detectors are made from four pieces and eight screws for simple assembly. The Fisher M-Scope is the world’s only fully portable walk-through detector. It features integrated wheels and weighs only 87 pounds. A single individual can transport it within a car and assemble it on-site in less than five minutes. It’s a great tool for rapid security enhancement, or for nightly setups at clubs and bars.
Tamper prevention and detection
Tamper prevention is an important feature for publicly accessible walk-through detectors. Garrett walk-through designs not only require specific, multi-level security codes, but they also feature a tamper alarm, and log all attempts at settings access.
The gold medalist in handheld security scanning
The Garrett Super Scanner handheld security wand has been the industry standard since it was first introduced at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. It’s a highly sensitive yet exceedingly hardy performer. It’s self-calibrating for continuous accuracy, detects everything from pistols to foil-wrapped drugs, and works within a temperature range of -35° F to 158° F. It also has a silent vibrating alarm option for safe, discreet detection in potentially volatile environments.
Fisher Research Laboratory
Founded out of a California garage in 1931, Fisher is the world’s oldest metal detector business - its founder’s research work even attracted the interest of Albert Einstein in the late 1920s. That innovation continues today with the world’s only fully portable walk-through detector.
Garrett Metal Detectors
Garrett was founded in 1964, and their walk-through and handheld security detectors have been used at numerous Olympic Games since 1984, as well as the 2010 FIFA World Cup. One-third of America’s airports are supplied with Garrett walk-through detectors.
